Nostalgia: (n.) a desire to return to SEGL

I have been home for about 3 weeks now. I miss it. A lot. It's weird being back home, but it's good seeing my friends and family again. Besides, I now have the chance to tell new people at SEGL everyday. Spread the word, obviously. Blogging was a big part of my semester away as I became the unofficial historian for the inaugural spring semester.  Needless to say, I miss blogging. A lot. So, I've decided to update everyone on my social venture project. Yay!

My project is titled New Lens: Photography in the Inner City. New Lens is an after-school digital photography program for 5th graders in the Cleveland city schools.  The mission of New Lens is to provide these fifth graders with a creative outlet and an opportunity to foster their passions or even discover a new one. I want other children to be inspired, to be creative, and to be passionate about something that brings me a great deal of joy.

Currently, I am in the process of applying for the start up grant from Ashoka, scheduling meetings with my 6 dedicated team members, and trying to make a connection with a Cleveland charter school where I would like to launch the program.

That's all for now. I will keep you updated. I just can't stay away from blogging.
